Rock ‘N Roller Brothers Remembered

Rock ‘N Roller Brothers Remembered

The ‘Beastie Boys’ from Enniscorthy, twin brothers Jimmy and Johnny Leacy , were fondly remembered at a special event held in Treacy’s Hotel, Enniscorthy, on the 3rd June.  Twins Jimmy and Johnny, who would have been celebrating their 60th birthday on 5th June, both lost their lives to cancer,  Johnny in 2017 and Jimmy in 2020.  Annette and Margaret and their families miss them terribly, as do the Rock ‘n Roll fans in Enniscorthy, but the Karaoke evening brought back fond memories of happier times.  A large crowd attended and many sponsors generously supported the event and  raffle.  A total of €1,640 was raised.

Annette and Margaret both praised the staff at Wexford General Hospital for the wonderful care Jimmy and Johnny received and also thanked the Hospice Homecare Nurses for their support and kindness.  They both wanted to say thank you and went about organising a memorial fundraiser for the two men donating to Friends of Wexford General Hospital. Their niece, Nicola Murphy, contacted FOWGH and helped with all the arrangements.

Mary Kerr, Chairperson of the Board of Friends of Wexford General Hospital, was delighted to meet with Annette and Margaret and said both women have lost two wonderful people to cancer and still they are able to say thank you to the nurses and doctors who cared for their loved ones.  We are humbled by their efforts and thank them most sincerely for this very generous donation.  The money will be used by FOWGH to improve the experience of patients and families attending at Wexford General Hospital.
